  36. ║ Alrighty... a small gotcha in Magic: The Gathering Duel of the             ║
  37. ║ Planeswalkers. It turns out that this small oversight in the protection    ║
  38. ║ was also responsible for trashing Razor's previous release of Magic:       ║
  39. ║ Spells of the Ancients. Here's the deal: I heard through the grapevine     ║
  40. ║ from some end users that Razor's SotA release didn't add any cards to the  ║
  41. ║ Magic decks, nor did it seem to really do anything. Well, it turns out     ║
  42. ║ some people said the same thing about the Class release of Duels of the    ║
  43. ║ Planewalkers! Further investigation turned up the fact that Magic Setup    ║
  44. ║ installs a serial number during setup time, which is generated from the    ║
  45. ║ operating system serial number/ID (ie: your Win95 serial number). This     ║
  46. ║ serial number was checked when anything to do with decks was fired up.     ║
  47. ║ The check for a working copy is simple: go into your magic dir, and run    ║
  48. ║ the deckbuilder (DECK.EXE). If the second available card at the bottom is  ║
  49. ║ Abu Ja'far, then you are running with the expanded decks. If the card is   ║
  50. ║ missing, you don't have a correct serial number. Copying the serial number ║
  51. ║ to a .REG file didn't cut it as it's rechecked against the current system  ║
  52. ║ ID when the game is run.                                                   ║
  53. ║                                                                            ║
  54. ║ After the key has been imported into your .REG, a new CD Check popped up   ║
  55. ║ when you start a duel.  This was also removed.                             ║
  56. ║                                                                            ║
  57. ║ This key generator will also fix the RAZOR release of MTG: Spells of the   ║
  58. ║ Ancients in case you didn't download MTG: Duels of the Planeswalkers.      ║
  59. ║                                                                            ║
  60. ║ If you want to get the updates off the web page, if it prompts you for a   ║
  61. ║ serial #, you can enter anything you like and it will accept it.           ║

  74. ║ UnZIP into the directory you installed Magic, ie C:\MAGIC, and run         ║
  75. ║ MTGKGEN.EXE and a serial number key will be generated for you and placed   ║
